Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 August 2026

Miranda Gerber Art respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website (mirandagerber.com), why, and what rights you have over it, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who is responsible for your information

The "responsible party" under POPIA is Miranda Gerber, trading as Miranda Gerber Art, a sole proprietor based at Grootfontein Country Estate, 100 Tanya Street, Pretoria East, South Africa. Miranda acts as her own Information Officer. You can contact her directly with any privacy question or request at mirandagerber@gmail.com or 082-550-2465.

2. What we collect

We only collect what's needed to run classes, workshops, and respond to enquiries:

We don't knowingly collect any special personal information (e.g. health, religious, or biometric data) through this site.

3. Why we collect it

We use your information only to: respond to your enquiries; process and confirm class or workshop bookings; send workshop updates or newsletter content you've signed up for; and meet our own legal and accounting obligations (e.g. keeping records of payments received). We don't sell or rent your information to anyone, and we don't use it for any purpose beyond what it was collected for.

4. Who we share it with

A small number of trusted third-party service providers help us run this site and process the information above, each acting as an "operator" on our behalf:

We don't share your information with anyone else, except where required by law.

5. How long we keep it

We keep booking and payment-related records for as long as we're legally required to for tax and accounting purposes. Contact, newsletter, and workshop-date-notification details are kept until you ask us to remove them, or until they're no longer needed for the purpose they were collected for.

6. Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and disclosure — including relying on reputable, secure third-party providers (Formspree, PayFast) for form handling and payment processing, rather than storing sensitive data ourselves.

7. Cookies

This site does not use any tracking or advertising cookies. The only thing stored on your device is a small flag in your browser's local storage that remembers you've dismissed the cookie notice banner — this isn't a cookie, isn't shared with anyone, and doesn't identify you. Google Analytics is currently disabled site-wide. If that ever changes, we'll update this section and our cookie notice first.

8. Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to: ask what personal information we hold about you; ask us to correct or update it; ask us to delete it, where we're not legally required to keep it; and object to how we're using it. To exercise any of these, just email mirandagerber@gmail.com — we'll respond within a reasonable time.

If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your information, you can lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za, complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.

9. International visitors

Miranda Gerber Art is a local, in-person studio based in Pretoria East, South Africa, and doesn't specifically offer services to, or track visitors from, the European Union — so the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) doesn't formally apply to us. That said, if you're visiting from outside South Africa, the rights described in section 8 above are available to you too — just get in touch.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our tools or services change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version.
